Haas Bar Pullers are one of the easiest and most affordable ways to automate turning operations on your lathe. These simple devices mount in the lathe’s turret, and are used to grab bar stock at the chuck face, and pull out the length required to turn the next part, until reaching the end of the bar. It’s like having a bar feeder inside the machine – without requiring additional floorspace.

 

Haas Bar Pullers are available in three shank types to fit any Haas turret: 1.0" and 25.0mm shank diameter, and VDI40. All 3 units are identical, except for the shank, consisting of a main body, a pair of serrated master jaws that pivot from the center of the body, and two sets of gripping jaws. The master jaws are held closed by heavy-duty springs inside the body, and the jaws open to grip the material. The gripping force is adjusted by a pair of set screws, and the gripping diameter is adjusted by moving the gripping jaws in the serrations of the master jaws.

 

Each bar puller comes with two sets of jaws, for gripping large and small diameters. The jaws are made of alloy steel hardened to 40Rc, and are tapered at the front to slide over the bar. The small jaws can grip material as small as 6mm (0.25"), and be adjusted to grip diameters up to 60mm (2.25"). The large jaws can grip material from 54mm to 110mm, or roughly 2.125" to 4.25" diameter bars. And these bar pullers are not limited to pulling only round bars. The strong grip force of these units will easily pull square, rectangle, and hex bars, as well.
