WHICH BORING RING DO I NEED?
Scrolling Pin vs. Sliding Pin:
Haas Tooling offers two types of high-performance boring rings designed for boring lathe soft jaws with maximum precision and accuracy. Haas Tooling lathe boring rings clamp to the front of your soft jaws, and are capable of clamping internally or externally.
*Haas Tooling boring rings are for hydraulic power chucks that come standard on Haas ST and DS models and not for manual scroll-type chucks.
*Verify dimension [G] in the tech specs suits your existing jaws. Pin diameter may need modifying to suit Haas 15-inch chuck jaws.
Scrolling Pin (HTL) Lathe Boring Ring
- Provides higher accuracy, and allows finer control for shops needing to dial-in their jaw position
- Prevents jaw lifting by providing uniform pressure on each jaw
- HTL-100 fits a 6" (165 mm) chucks, but also covers 5" (135 mm) and 8" (210 mm) chucks
- HTL-125 fits a 8" (210 mm) chuck, but also covers 6" (165 mm) and 10" (254 mm) chucks
- HTL-160 fits a 10" (254 mm) chuck, but also covers 8" (210 mm) and 12" (305 mm) chuck
- Pins are reversible for larger diameter jaw clamping
Sliding Pin (HJB) Lathe Boring Ring
- Provides concentric and precise boring of your soft jaws
- Available to fit 5" (135 mm) - 15" (381 mm) lathe jaw chucks
- Sliding pins allow easy adjustment of the jaw clamp position
- Prevents jaw lifting, by providing uniform pressure on each jaw
- Each ring is specific to your lathe chuck size
- Low cost in comparison to a scrolling pin boring ring

Easy Lathe Chuck Jaw Boring Using Built-In Haas VPS Templates
Quickly and easily bore your next set of lathe soft jaws! Haas offers VPS templates within the Haas control to make using boring rings faster and easier.
* If your machine’s control does not have the templates built in, you can download the templates below. Install the templates into the My VPS folder, and access them via the VPS CUSTOM folder. (The VPS Templates are compatible with NGC lathes with software release 100.17.000.1200 or later, but the chamfer option may not be available. Full VPS Template functionality, including the chamfer option, requires Lathe NGC software release 100.21.000.1200 or later.)
