Indexable slot milling cutters are available in widths of 3/8”, 1/2", 5/8” 3/4" and 1”. The 3/8” width is a 3” diameter on a 1-1/4” Weldon shank. The other slot mills are all shell mill type and require mounting on a shell mill arbor.

 

These cutters are designed for slot milling of steel, stainless steel and cast iron. The inserts are mounted tangentially around the diameter to resist impact and the large rake angle allows smoother cutting at higher speeds.

 

This cutter is capable of light face milling and shoulder milling but is primarily designed for slot milling.
